Mecca Madison
Winner, American Idol Las Vegas
On January 31, 2005 the television show American Idol
aired Mecca Madison's Las
Vegas audition. She was seen by millions of viewers and received excellent
responses from three professional music industry judges. It had been a
terrific experience, but her musical journey had already begun before
American Idol accepted her as a contestant.
She was only four years old when she discovered that her voice was a musical
instrument. When she realized that she had musical talent, she began to
understand that the art of music couldn't be learned - it had to come naturally.
As she grew older, she began to perform in and consistently place first in talent
competitions all around Las Vegas, Chicago, and Atlanta. She sang gospel,
performed in musical plays, and was even accepted into the Atlantic City choir.
By the time she was a young teen, she had already traveled the United States in
search of a recording contract. She attended the Las Vegas Academy High
School for two years, where she joined the Women's Choir and Pop Choir and
participated in such musicals as "Fame." It was at this time that she
also received an award given by the United States Marine Corps for Musical
Excellence and Achievement.
